Browser Verification Notes
Date: 2026-05-20
Summary
Validated the Codex in-app browser as a secondary evidence channel for Scout. It can capture rich visible page content for many JS-heavy pages, but it is not a universal bypass for hard-site bot protection.
Pages Tested
| Use case | URL | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Company/about | https://www.adobe.com/about-adobe.html | Success: heading and company overview visible. |
| Investor | https://www.adobe.com/investor-relations.html | Success: investor highlights, PDFs, events, contact, social links visible. |
| Careers | https://www.adobe.com/careers.html | Success: careers content, teams, hiring process, benefits visible. |
| Job | Ashby Kong Director Global Scaled CS URL | Success: title, location, department, compensation, application fields visible. |
| Product/category | https://www.lacoste.com/us/lacoste/men/clothing/polos/ | Partial success: product links, prices, colors visible in verbose snapshot; noisy modal/accessibility tree requires filtering. |
| Hard-site product | Estée Lauder Double Wear product URL | Blocked: Access Denied returned in browser. |
Decision Impact
Browser fallback remains required, but it must be explicitly fallback-only. Scout should preserve blocked evidence and continue to saved/API/host-fetch alternatives where available. Estée Lauder remains a hard-site validation case, not a solved extraction case.
